What can I find at Chemistry Steps?
First and foremost, you will find hundreds of articles free of charge. The topics range from the beginning of Organic Chemistry 1 and going all the way to the multistep synthesis in Organic Chemistry 2. The material is suited primarily for the undergraduate organic chemistry level class in the United States since this is where I have been working as a full-time faculty though it may not be so different from what is taught in many other countries.
Practice Problems
Tons of It Because Practice Makes Possible in Organic Chemistry
With Chemistry Steps you’re not walking into the dark without seeing what exactly is covered. All the practice problems are open to everyone for free! I have seen and prepared hundreds of exams for organic chemistry and these practice problems are the types that you will find in your exams. Their difficulty varies from one-step to more advanced ones including step organic synthesis problems.
If you are taking organic chemistry, you are likely facing two realities: One is the lectures and what you learn when you go over your notes and the other one is the tests that strike you as if the questions have nothing to do with what you learn in the classroom?
This is a common situation for a lot of students taking Organic Chemistry classes. Like many other students, you will start seeking help online or by going to tutors to figure out what is going on.
Let me tell you; it is not that your instructor is trying to give you a hard time with trick questions (even though sometimes we do, sorry) it is as simple as recalling you learning to ride a bicycle or to swim. You didn’t just sit on the bike or jump into the pool and start going after listening to the instructions. You failed many times and eventually learned it only by doing everything by yourself.
I get asked a lot- “what is the best way of studying Chemistry?” And my answer is, the only way of learning chemistry and getting your desired grade is by doing practice problems.
After working on each question, you have the possibility to first check your answer and then refer to the step-by-step solution.
Most of the solutions are in video format which gives you access to over 20 hours of problem-solving videos to exercises that are equivalent or higher in complexity to the ones found in the college exams and standardized tests such as PCAT or MCAT.
